Dr.Raghavendra Rao is a graduate of Osmania Medical College-Hyderabad.He is trained in General surgery at Osmania General Hospital and got training in Surgical Gastroenterology from the prestigious Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI)-Lucknow. He has received fellowship training at Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH)-S.Korea  to specialize in Liver Surgery and Liver Transplantation.

     As a Surgical Gastroenterologist  who specializes in the treatment of Liver diseases, Dr.Rao’s main interests lie in Liver Transplantation, treatment of Liver tumors and Surgery in Pancreatic Cancers s. He is skilled in advanced Transplantation techniques like Living Donor Liver Transplantation, Split Liver Transplantation and Domino Transplantation. He uses advanced surgical techniques to offer maximal treatment of Liver and Pancreatic tumors. These techniques include the use Surgical microscopes,Laparoscopes as well as Radio Frequency Ablation(RFA) techniques.Dr. Rao applies these tools to vast array of diseases of liver including surgery in cirrhotic patients.His clinical interest lies in the treatement and research of  Liver and Pancreatic Cancers .   

     Along with treating Liver lesions and Liver failure Dr. Rao specializes in treating complex Biliary problems like Biliary Strictures, Choledochal Cysts, Gall Baldder as well as Cholangio Carcinomas and an array of Paediatric Biliary problems including Congenital Biliary Atresia. Here also he uses a number of advanced techniques in surgically treating these conditions.

     Although Dr.Rao specializes in Liver transplantation, Liver Surgery, Biliary and Pancreatic  Surgery, he is a General Surgical Gastroenterologist skilled in complex Abdominal Surgery, Abdominal Trauma and Critical Care.      

     Dr.Rao has presented many acclaimed papers across the globe. He was awarded the Young Investigator abstract award at the 11th ISDS convention at Hong Kong in the year 2002 and received the Best paper award at 18th UEGW –Spain.He was granted Travel Grant and Citation by IRCAD –Strausberg-France.He was awarded with the Best paper award and Gold Medal by Indain Association of Surgical Gastroenterology (IASG). Dr.Rao is an active member of Association Of Surgeons of India (ASI) and Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology (IASG).He is also on the panel for Diplomat National Board (DNB) examiners and takes keen interest in graduate and post Graduate teaching.
